Bob Kiefer started his career as a landscape architect, but sitting behind a desk was never the right fit. He spent his weekends building houses and decks, and it did not take long to realize that his talent, his income, and his passion all pointed in the same direction.
Bob founded Decks by Kiefer in 1986 and built the company on a straightforward belief: that your outdoor space should be designed with the same care and creative vision as the home it belongs to. That belief has guided every project the company has taken on for nearly four decades.
What started as a one-man operation driven by craft and conviction has grown into a company with more than 1,000 completed projects, multiple NADRA awards, and national recognition in publications including Professional Deck Builder, Popular Mechanics, and Custom Home Magazine.
Bob became a direct Ipe importer so his clients would have access to the finest hardwood available at pricing no competitor could offer. He takes one project at a time, personally oversees every build from the first design conversation to the final walkthrough, and holds every project to the same standard he set when he built his first deck.
The names and faces on the team have grown to include Travis Desperes as Office Manager and Will Harris as Project Manager, but the commitment behind the work has never changed.
