Decks by Kiefer took on a full-home makeover in Martinsville, NJ, for a client whose house had no curb appeal, no usable outdoor space, and a roofline that left the team with very little to work with. The goal was to build a covered front porch addition that would completely reimagine how the home presented itself from the street, using materials that would hold up and look exceptional for years to come.
The most distinctive challenge was the arched beam required on the front gable, a detail that most builders would avoid entirely. Decks by Kiefer crafted those beams in-house, which made the custom roofline possible without compromise. The covered porch structure features a tongue-and-groove ceiling with exposed beam framing, stone-veneer column bases, white-painted columns, a cable railing, and a chandelier and ceiling fan that make the space fully functional after dark. The deck surface itself is Ambooo thermally modified bamboo, a high-performance material that delivers the warmth of natural wood with superior resistance to moisture and wear.
The before-and-after of this project tells the full story. A house that offered almost nothing at the curb became a property with genuine character, a welcoming covered outdoor living space, and the kind of craftsmanship that raises the value of everything around it. Decks by Kiefer delivered a result the client could not have imagined from the start.
